Who am i..

My name is Valeria Guimaraes and I am an experienced quilting teacher with a strong passion for fabric and an eye for detail, specializing in both piecing and longarm quilting techniques. My quilting journey began in 2011 with a piecing class at JoAnn’s, where I quickly immersed myself in various quilting projects to refine my skills. Recognizing my commitment to the craft, I understood the importance of investing time and resources into producing high-quality work.

To broaden my knowledge, I explored numerous instructional videos on YouTube, where I discovered effective techniques used by others and developed a few of my own through experimentation and diligent research. This phase was crucial in shaping my foundation and understanding of quilting, as I not only learned new methods but also developed a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the artistry involved in quilting.

In 2015, after purchasing my first longarm machine, I shifted my focus to longarm quilting. This was a transformative moment in my quilting journey, allowing me to create more intricate and detailed designs with greater precision and efficiency. The transition to longarm quilting opened up a new world of possibilities, and I dedicated myself to mastering this technique, spending countless hours practicing and perfecting my skills.

In 2019, to validate my skills, I enrolled in and successfully passed the APQS Longarm Certification program. This certification was a significant milestone, as it not only recognized my proficiency in longarm quilting but also reinforced my commitment to continuous learning and improvement. By the end of the same year, my dedication was rewarded with the acquisition of my dream machine, the Bernina Q24 with Qmatic. This state-of-the-art machine enhanced my capabilities, enabling me to execute even the most complex quilting designs with ease and precision.

In 2020, I began offering my quilting services to others. This endeavor allowed me to share my passion and expertise with fellow quilting enthusiasts, contributing to the quilting community and helping others bring their creative vision to life. Teaching and collaborating with other quilters has been immensely rewarding, as it has provided me with the opportunity to inspire and be inspired, to learn and to teach, and to be part of a vibrant and supportive community. In 2021, I launched the VG Quilting Group on Facebook, where I teach piecing and quilting. This group has become a vibrant community of quilters, dedicated to learning, sharing, and inspiring each other in the art of quilting. Through this platform, I have been able to reach a wider audience, offering virtual classes, tutorials, and live demonstrations. The group has grown into a space where members can share their projects, seek advice, and celebrate their achievements, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual support.

Over the years, my journey has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a deep-seated passion for quilting. My approach to teaching is grounded in the belief that quilting is not just a craft, but an art form that allows for self-expression and creativity. I strive to create an inclusive and encouraging environment where quilters of all skill levels can thrive and grow. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my teaching career has been witnessing the progress and accomplishments of my students. Seeing their confidence grow as they master new techniques and create beautiful quilts is a constant source of motivation and joy. I am committed to providing personalized guidance and support, ensuring that each student receives the attention and resources they need to succeed. As I look to the future, I am excited to continue expanding my reach and impact within the quilting community. My goal is to inspire a new generation of quilters, to promote the rich tradition of quilting, and to contribute to the ongoing evolution of this timeless craft. Whether through in-person workshops, online tutorials, or community events, I am dedicated to fostering a love for quilting and helping others discover the joy and satisfaction it brings.

I invite you to join me on this journey where my commitment is to help you become a better quilter. Let’s quilt something beautiful together! Through our shared passion, we can create works of art that tell our stories, celebrate our heritage, and connect us to a community of like-minded individuals. Together, we can explore new techniques, push the boundaries of our creativity, and continue to elevate the art of quilting.

Thank you for considering me as your guide and mentor in this wonderful journey. I look forward to sharing my knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm with you, and to helping you achieve your quilting goals.
